TTT Membership Application: Some Definitions
We all understand and agree that we are each individually responsible for what happens to us once we make the decision to launch our hang gliders, shout “Clear”, and take to the air. No One and No Organization or Club is responsible for what happens to us once we make our individual decision to fly. Nevertheless, we live in a litigious society and attorneys use big words when they write contracts. The TTT membership application is written in “Legalese” in order to protect our club from unjustified lawsuits while simultaneously giving informed consent to each prospective TTT member. The terms listed below are defined to further clarify what you are reading in the membership application and agreeing to when you sign your name and pay your dues.
Incomplete Application: Any missing information in highlighted RED areas including personal information, signature, witness signature, and your initials, where indicated, will result in rejection of your application for membership. Pending approval by the TTT BOD By-Laws committee and/or membership referendum your payment will be considered a donation to the TTT if your application is incomplete.
Witness: Your signature must be witnessed by an Adult or a TTT Board Member. Any other witness signature will result in an invalid application.
Invalidate: Your application will not be accepted and your membership will NOT be granted.
Emergency Contact: The person you want contacted in the event you are injured.
Emergency Contact Phone: The phone number of the person you name as your Emergency Contact.
Authority of Medical Directive: The person you have spoken with who has agreed to serve as the decision maker for you and carry out your pre-defined medical directions in the event that you are injured and unable to give consent for treatment. This person is someone YOU trust to carry out your wishes. Where applicable by state laws, this may require legal written documentation.
USHPA Rating: H2, H3, H4, or H5 as indicated on your USHPA membership card.
Release and Discharge…I release any and all claims: This means that you do not blame anyone but yourself for your accident, injury, or death from hang gliding, agree NOT to sue, and hope your relatives will not sue, either.
Flight Regulatory Program (FRP): The FRP defines the rules and regulations for flying TTT sites. It is available on the TTT Home Page at www.tennesseetreetoppers.org on the left hand side under “FRP”. Every TTT member should read this document before flying any TTT sites.
